The eyelid lift

With an eyelid lift you can smooth out the signs of time that first appear around the eyes. The results of eyelid surgery usually last for several years and the procedure itself is relatively low-risk.

Eyelid lift – open your eyes and shine
Age, genes, our lifestyle – these are all factors that influence our visual appearance. As we know, the eyes are the mirror of the soul. An eyelid lift can help you see the world with a clear vision again.

When the skin around the eyes loses its elasticity, droopy eyelids or bags under the eyes form. An eyelid lift can resolve both phenomena relatively quickly. During the operation, excess skin, as well as fat or muscle tissue, is removed and the remaining skin is then stitched up. Eyelid lifting is particularly recommended for drooping eyelids, as in addition to the aesthetic correction, vision is also improved. Not only will you look more awake, but you will feel more alert too.

The operation itself has few complications; general anesthesia is often not even necessary. In addition to relatively harmless complications such as swelling, bruising or dryness of the eyes, there are also after-effects that make corrective interventions necessary. These include asymmetries, limited ability to close the eyes or visual impairment. In order to at least be financially protected in these cases, we recommend our beautyprotect follow-up cost insurance.

Advice on preparing for eyelid surgery
An eyelid lift won't keep you off track for too long. The operation itself only takes one to one and a half hours and you can usually go straight home afterwards. Nevertheless, arrange for someone to accompany you to pick you up. Further information that supports the healing process in advance can be found below:

  • Before the eyelid operation and for some time afterwards, any necessary anticoagulants are replaced with replacement medication such as heparin injections.
  • Please do not take blood thinners such as aspirin, other flu or painkillers or alcohol. Also avoid nicotine.
  • If you will be placed under general anesthesia for your eyelid lift, you should not eat anything after 10 p.m. the evening before the procedure.
  • The morning before the operation, you should avoid using creams or make-up after carefully cleansing your face.
  • For about seven days after the eyelid lift, you may not be able to socialize due to the optical marks. We recommend that you take vacation for this period in advance.
What you should consider after eyelid surgery
Immediately after the procedure you should be fit again relatively quickly. Nevertheless, conscientious aftercare and care of your eye area is important for the healing process. Please note the following information:

  • To avoid swelling and bruising, you should cool your eye area regularly - cooling pads or cooling ointments are well suited for this.
  • You should avoid soap, cream or make-up from your eye area for the first 10 days.
  • After 10 days, you can cover any remaining traces of the operation with make-up.
  • You should not start exercising until at least three weeks after your eyelid lift.
  • In the first few weeks, avoid strenuous physical exertion and avoid sunbathing or using the solarium.
  • You will notice that darker rooms are much more pleasant than lots of light.
  • First of all, avoid contact lenses and wear your glasses instead.
